Using the Reading Room

Dairy Collection
This collection comprises large deposits from the disbanded libraries of the former Milk Marketing Board and the former National Institute for Research in Dairying. There are more than 4,000 items in this collection, which includes a large proportion of unusual literature, such as reports, pamphlets and overseas publications.

Milling and Baking Collection
The library from the Flour Milling and Baking Research Association was transferred to Reading when the association was merged with the Campden & Chorleywood Food Research Association. This collection of about 500 items from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, includes runs of primary trade journals, such as The Miller, pamphlets and reports.

Edgar Thomas Collection
Edgar Thomas, professor of agricultural economics in the University of Reading, left his library to the Museum of English Rural Life. It includes many of the major texts and pamphlets published on agricultural economics and related subjects during the first half of the twentieth century. This collection is not yet fully catalogued.
